Role Summary

The Origination Intern will play a key role in supporting Dark Alpha Capital’s investment origination team in sourcing, analyzing, and evaluating potential investment opportunities. This role provides hands-on exposure to deal origination, market research, and financial analysis within a dynamic investment environment. The ideal candidate is analytical, curious, and eager to learn the end-to-end investment process.

  • Location: Remote (U.S.)

  • Schedule: Full-time

  • Compensation: Success-based (deal-close milestones)

Responsibilities (How You’ll Deliver)

  • Assist in identifying and sourcing potential investment opportunities across targeted industries and markets.

  • Conduct market mapping and industry research to support origination strategies and pipeline development.

  • Evaluate investment opportunities by gathering data, analyzing company profiles, and assessing market positioning.

  • Support the origination team in preparing pitch materials, investment memos, and presentations for internal review.

  • Monitor industry trends, M&A activity, and competitive landscapes to identify potential leads.

  • Maintain and update the firm’s CRM and deal pipeline with accurate and up-to-date information.

  • Participate in team meetings, strategy discussions, and due diligence sessions.

  • Assist in relationship management efforts with founders, intermediaries, and other stakeholders.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.

  • Understanding of financial statements, valuation concepts, and investment fundamentals.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

  • Previous internship experience in investment banking, consulting, private equity, or venture capital is an advantage.
