Role Summary

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Data Researcher to support our deal origination efforts by identifying, validating, and enriching company data across multiple industries. This role is critical to building high-quality proprietary deal pipelines. Ideal for someone analytical, tech-savvy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, fully remote environment.

This is a success-fee–only contractor role with opportunities to grow into larger responsibilities over time.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct detailed company-level research using online databases, directories, industry reports, and open-source data.
Identify potential acquisition targets based on industry criteria and investment theses.
Build and maintain structured datasets (Excel, Airtable, Google Sheets, or CRM).
Enrich company profiles with key attributes: size, revenue estimates, ownership, industry classification, contact info, and business model.
Assist in mapping industries, subsector landscapes, and competitive environments.
Validate data for accuracy, completeness, and relevance.
Support the Origination Lead with ad-hoc analytical or research-driven tasks.
Collaborate with the sourcing team to update CRM pipelines and track outreach data.
Prepare clean research summaries or brief reports on industries or company clusters.

Requirements

Strong proficiency in data research, internet sourcing, and analytical reasoning.
Comfort working with spreadsheets and CRM/data tools.
Ability to quickly learn new industries and break down business models.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and meet research deadlines.
Experience with Python/automation is a plus (not required).
Experience in private equity, consulting, data research, or lead-generation is a plus.
